Nearly 120 feared drowned in Bangladesh ferry disaster

Rescuers in Bangladesh searched Tuesday for the wreckage of a heavily overloaded river ferry that sank, with nearly 120 people still missing.
      
Around 100 survivors have been pulled from the swollen river, but 24 hours after the disaster emergency workers have still not been able to locate the vessel.

Private investment company CSIF of Tsvetelina Borislavova is restoring the ferry line between Bulgaria and Georgia.

Through the Clever Synergies Investment Fund (CSIF), a second port in the Black Sea city of Burgas will be bought. The second port is located right next to the one purchased in 2013, according to Capital daily.

At Least 8 People Die After Bangladesh Ferry Capsizes in Storm

At least eight people have died after a ferry carrying some 200 passengers capsized in a river near the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on Thursday.

The MV Miraj-4 capsized during a storm in the Munshiganj district as it travelled towards Shariatpur. Officials say the death toll is expected to rise, the BBC reports.

South Korea Ferry Company CEO Arrested

Prosecutors in South Korea have arrested the CEO of the company that owned the ferry that sank off South Korea, killing more than 260 people.

Kim Han-sik, chief executive officer of Cheonghaejin Marine Company, was arrested on Thursday. He faces charges of causing death by negligence and violating maritime law, according to reports of CNN.

Two-day strike on Greek ferries due to protest over collective contracts


Passenger ferries were docked at ports in Greece on Monday due to the start of a 48-hour strike called by the Panhellenic Seamen's Federation (PNO).

The sailors are protesting that the multi-bill passed through Parliament on Sunday allows ferry companies to offer employees in-house contracts, thereby bypassing collective bargaining with the union.
