As the winter tightens its grip, Western Bulgaria is waking up to a bone-chilling morning on January 22nd. Temperatures are set to dance between minus 8C and minus 3C, dipping even lower in the picturesque valleys. The capital, Sofia, won't be spared either, with the thermometer hovering around a frosty minus 7C.

Several parts of Türkiye are currently under the influence of radiation fog induced by high pressure, an expert has said, warning that the effect of this veil curtailing visibility will prevail for an extended period.

Today will be mostly sunny, but before noon there will be fog or low clouds in places in the lowlands and valleys. Towards the end of the day, a new increase in cloudiness will begin from the northwest. In Eastern Bulgaria, a light wind will blow from the west-southwest. The minimum temperatures will mostly be between minus 3°C and 2°C, in Sofia - around 0°C.

Bulgaria anticipates a break into December with an unusual weather pattern, featuring fog and warm winds in various regions across the country.

In the morning hours there will be low stratus clouds or fog in places in the lowlands and valleys. During the day, a moderate, temporarily strong, gusty wind with a south-southwest direction will blow north of the mountains and in Southeast Bulgaria.

A weak and moderate wind will blow, strong in the Koava area, and occasionally stormy, southeasterly in the south of the Banat and in the lower Danube region.
