A government jet carrying Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos back to Athens from Ankara where he had attended the inauguration ceremony of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was forced to conduct an emergency landing in Thessaloniki on Friday due to a technical problem.

Parliament speaker attends inauguration of Turkish president

BELGRADE -- Parliament Speaker Maja Gojković is Serbia's representative at the inauguration of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The ceremony is taking place in Ankara on Thursday.

The announcement was made by Gojković's cabinet.

Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos is to represent Greece at the official inauguration ceremony for Turkey’s new president, former Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Greek Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The ceremony to install Erdogan as Turkish president is to take place in Ankara on Thursday.
