Discovery inside Giza Pyramid baffles scientists

Scientists have discovered a secret, giant void hiding inside the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. Located above the pyramid's Grand Gallery, the 30-meter-long void inside Khufu's Pyramid remains a mystery.

Its size suggests it plays an important role in the tomb's structure. It's the first discovery of its kind since the 19th century.

Secrets of Great Pyramid uncovered

The secrets behind the construction of the oldest and only survivor of the Seven Wonders of the World have been locked within its limestone and granite walls for centuries. But now archaeologists believe they have finally uncovered how Egyptians were able to lug millions of 2.5 ton blocks 500 miles to create the Great Pyramid of Giza, reported Mirror Online on Sept. 24.  

Egypt to open Sphinx area to tourists again

Egypt will soon open to tourists the courtyard in front of the Sphinx, the colossal monument which has been under restoration for nearly four years, officials said on Nov. 10.
      
Carved from a single ridge of stone, the Sphinx is one of the most visited monuments in the world, and has been regularly restored following from air pollution and underground water damage.
