BELGRADE - Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has said that EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele's visit to Belgrade on Monday is important for the future of the accession talks between Serbia and the EU.

The EU wants a uniform price for Russian natural gas for all its member states, said Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger on Friday. 

Oettinger had a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk who lobbies for the idea of an EU energy union. 

European legislation is applied to all infrastructure which is under the EU's jurisdiction, the EU Commission said on Thursday.

Bulgarian Energy Minister Dragomir Stoynev met with the EU's Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger Thursday (24 April) to discuss the future of the Gazprom-sponsored South Stream gas pipeline. But the two sides offered a widely diverging interpretation of the exchange.

The South Stream gas pipeline project will not be terminated, according to Bulgaria's Economy and Energy Minister Dragomir Stoynev.

Bulgarian Energy Minister Dragomir Stoynev and EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger discussed the South Stream gas pipeline project at a meeting on Thursday morning.

The two arranged a new meeting in the coming weeks, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).

The construction of the Bulgarian part of the South Stream pipeline will start in May or June in Varna, said Igor Elkin, executive director of the company South Stream Bulgaria. 

EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger has suggested he sees no risk of Russian gas supplies to Europe being affected by potential sanctions over the events in Ukraine.

Ukraine has gas reserves which could suffice for three-months supplies to Europe, the country's Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan said.

He told the Bulgarian National Radio that, in case of halting supplies to Ukrainian end users, Europe's energy delieveries will be guaranteed until June.

BRUSSELS - The European Union is not considering freezing South Stream but the construction of this pipeline is not a priority, a European Commission (EC) official has told Tanjug in Brussels.
