Golden Boll Film Festival to be held in September

Turkey's International Golden Boll Film Festival will be held in the southern Adana province on Sept. 13-19, organizers said on Aug. 24.

Zeydan Karalar, the mayor of Adana, who will organize the festival, said in a statement that one of Turkey's most prestigious cinematic events, the 28th edition of the festival will be held with COVID-19 measures in place.

Türk Eximbank takes steps to back exporters amid virus

Türk Eximbank, Turkey's major export incentive instrument, on March 24 introduced a support package for exporters to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The move aims for exporters to continue production and maintain employment as they see orders falling or being canceled due to virus fears.

Case into murder of three PKK-linked women in Paris dropped after suspect dies in hospital

The case into the murder of three female members linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has been dropped in Paris following the death last month of the only suspect in the case. 

The case into the killing of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Lelya Şaylemez was dropped after the only arrested suspect, Ömer Güney, died on Dec. 17, 2016.

Intel officer linked to Kurdish women's murder in Paris probed over 'parallel-links'

Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against a member of Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (M?T), Haluk Özcan, for links to the "parallel structure" - a group of Fethullah Gülen sympathizers accused of trying to overthrow the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) government, the former's ally-turned-foe.

Antalya Film Festival's head of jury announced

The 52nd International Antalya Film Festival, which was previously the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, will be held between Nov. 29 and Dec. 6 this year. Director and screenwriter Ömer Varg? will head the jury of the festival's National Feature Film Competition, according to a written statement made by the festival office. 

Reception held for Turkish films in Venice

A reception was held on Sept. 6 in Venice for three Turkish films screening at the 72nd Venice Film Festival. Under the auspices of the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry, the reception took place at a hotel on San Clemente Island. 

This year, young Turkish director Emin Alper's "Abluka" (Frenzy), is among the 21 films competing for the Golden Lion.  

Paris murder suspect faces trial as Kurdish tensions resurface

A Turkish man suspected of murdering three Kurdish women in Paris in 2013 is to face trial amid renewed violence in Turkey's southeast. 

According to a French judicial source, the charge against the main suspect in the case, 33-year-old Ömer Güney, will be "assassination in connection with a terrorist organization," as requested by an investigating magistrate in July. 

Golden Boll to be held in September

The 22nd International Golden Boll Film Festival will be organized this year between Sept. 14 and 20 in the southern province of Adana. A total 876,000 Turkish Liras will be awarded for the National Feature Film, National Students Films and Mediterranean Short Film competitions as well as the first-time script writing competition around the theme of Adana.
