Argentina's main labor union on Thursday called for a general strike over President Javier Milei's reforms aimed at liberalizing the country's economy.

Members of the United Services Trade Union Ver.di (Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft) and the railroad workers' union are on strike. The strike affected all intercity rail traffic, almost all city traffic as well as most airports. The strike also covers maritime traffic in Germany as well as highways.
Metro strike, postponed
The General Council of 'Unitatea' - Metro Free Trade Union (USLM) decided on Tuesday to postpone the launch of the general strike until after a first meeting with the new Transport Minister, informs USLM.

Two more unions join strike action
Two more labor unions said Thursday that they will take part in a general strike on May 17. They are the Hellenic Federation of Private Sector Employees (OIYE) and the Public Hospital Workers Union (POEDIN).
The strike is being held to express dissatisfaction with the latest austerity measures agreed by the government and the country's creditors.

Strike action to shut down country on Thursday
Greece will be brought to a halt on Thursday as the country's biggest labor unions - representing public and private sector workers - have announced a 24-hour general strike to protest plans for labor reforms and tax hikes.
The action will also disrupt transport as buses and trolley will be out of service from 9 a.m until 9 p.m., when the shift ends.
