At a joint summit on Corfu on Thursday, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his Italian counterpart Paolo Gentiloni declared that European countries should share the burden of dealing with migration.

Italy's Paolo Gentiloni and his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras spoke Thursday on the western Greek island of Corfu, where talks also included the financial crisis and the European Union's relations with Turkey.

Gentiloni: Italy, Serbia good friends

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is on an official visit to Italy this Tuesday, where he met with Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni.

Vucic was welcomed with top state honors, and then proceeded to discuss "bilateral relations, the situation in the region, and Italy's support to Serbia's EU accession" with Gentiloni.

The EU executive will discuss further measures with Italy and Greece in the coming week to help the Mediterranean states deal with irregular migrants, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said on Friday.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic received on Wednesday Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Manzo, the government announced.

Manzo "congratulated him on winning the presidential elections and also conveyed congratulations from Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Paola Gentiloni."
