Linta: Cynical decision to raise indictments against Serbs

BELGRADE - Miodrag Linta, president of the Coalition of Refugee Associations, urged Croatia to create the political and professional conditions for punishing numerous crimes against Serbs during the war in the nineties claiming that it is a cynical decision to raise indictments against Serbian citizens from Glina for the murder of Croatian civilians in 1991.

OSIJEK - World vice champions Serbia failed to qualify for the second phase of the 2014 European Women's Handball Championship after losing to Slovakia 23-21 (6-11) in their last group D match of the Preliminary Round in Osijek (Croatia) last night.

The team coached by Sasa Boskovic lost all the three matches it played in the group, from Montenegro, France and Slovakia.

VINKOVCI - Ustasha graffiti have been painted on the building of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) parish centre in Vinkovc, Croatia.

The graffiti featuring messages of hatred against the Serbs, threats and the Ustasha symbols and mottoes were painted on the SPC parish centre in Vinkovci on Sunday, the Osjek diocese has stated.

Zagreb Opens Vintage-Style Skating Rink

The skating rink, which opened on Friday in King Tomislav Square between the main railway station and Zagreb's arts pavilion, is modelled on one that stood in the same place while Croatia was a part of the Austro-Hungarian empire.

The authorities tried to simulate the 19th century rink existed by using lanterns to light it by night.

SLAVONSKI BROD -- The police in Croatia have a 52-year-old man in custody on suspicion that he owns "a collection of human body parts."

The Zagreb-based daily Jutarnji List writes that the man is a resident of the town of Slavonski Brod, and that "the bulk of his bizarre collection is made up of male genitals."

Croatia Police Arrest of Rights Activist Condemned

The Croatian news website Index.hr on Thursday published a video of police pepper spraying a well-known human rights activist in Dubrovnik during his arrest in late July.

The video shows police using pepper spray while struggling unsuccessfully to handcuff Antun Zeravica, 37, in the old town area on July 31, after he refused to show police his ID card.
