GAZA STRIP -- Two Palestinians were killed overnight as Israel continued its attacks on the Gaza Strip, bringing the death toll in the conflict to 2,122.
This was announced by Palestinian sources.

Marking the first day of the new school year in Gaza, dozens of children lined up in the courtyard early on Sunday morning to sing the Palestinian national anthem.

Gaza death toll rises above 2,000: Health Ministry
The death toll in the war-torn Gaza Strip rose above 2,000 on Aug. 18, the health ministry said as more people injured in over a month of fighting with the Israelis succumbed to their wounds.
According to a ministry statement, a total of 2,016 people were killed and another 10,196 wounded.

Long-neglected Gaza heritage wilts in war
The Israeli missile tore through the vaulted ceiling and pulverised age-old sandstone. One direct hit destroyed the Omari mosque in Jabaliya and dealt another blow to Gaza's beleaguered heritage.
The site is believed to have housed a mosque since the seventh century and parts of the Omari were said to date back to the 14th century.
