Greek spirits winning over local, international markets
The Greek distillery industry is brimming with optimism as Greek beverages are gaining an increasing foothold domestically and abroad. From 2019 to 2022, exports rose 22%, spearheaded by ouzo.
Zakynthos: Police seize 300 liters of liquor
Authorities on the island of Zakynthos have confiscated 300 litres of liquor, which they say posed a public health threat.
The alcohol was destined for restaurants and bars across the island. Local media said the spirits were bottled in 60 5-litre plastic containers, which were labelled as "vodka," gin," "rum" and other drinks.

Gin or genie?
Time to admit, I have a fondness for gin and tonic, or maybe just gin with a dash of vermouth. My undeniable inclination for gin as a choice of drink is easy to explain: It was my first ever drink in life. I did not start my drinking career by taking shy sips of wine or beer, or tasting the cloying sweet liquors my paternal grandmother used to enjoy along with her dense Turkish coffee.
