Google Doodle marks Labor Day
On May 1, as workers in many parts of the world enjoy a day off, Google's latest Doodle celebrates the history of Labor Day, also known as International Workers' Day.
The holiday originated in the late 19th century during the Industrial Revolution in the US and was established by the labor movement, which fought for the regulation of American work schedules and other worker rights.

Spain competition watchdog opens Google probe
Spain's competition watchdog has launched an investigation into Google for alleged anti-competitive practices affecting news agencies and press publications.
The probe seeks to determine if Google and its parent company Alphabet abused their "dominant position" in the Spanish market, competition watchdog CNMC said in a statement late on March 28.

IBM to cut 3,900 jobs amid reorganization
IBM will slash some 3,900 jobs, slightly more than one percent of its workforce, related to businesses it has divested, a source close to the matter told AFP on Jan. 25.
The computing company based in New York state did not talk of job cuts in its quarterly earnings report published Wednesday, however, nor in a call with analysts to discuss the financial results.

US sues Google over dominance of online ad market

The U.S. Justice Department sued Google on Jan. 24 for its dominance of the online advertising market, launching a fresh legal battle against the California-based tech giant.
The federal antitrust suit accused Google of unlawfully maintaining a monopoly that had "corrupted legitimate competition in the ad tech industry."

Google claims the platform violates its policies such as physical threats and incitement to violence and thus deserves the ban.
