THE HAGUE - The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) has accepted an appeal by former Republika Srpska Krajina president Goran Hadzic and granted him temporary release until the end of May.

Hadzic is a former political leader of Serbs in Croatia and has been indicted for war crimes committed in that country from 1991 until 1995.

THE HAGUE - Goran Hadzic (56), a war crimes indictee in detention at The Hague, has asked the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) to urgently grant him temporary release so he could undergo chemotherapy as he was diagnosed with inoperable cancer, the ICTY said in a release on Friday.

The Hague Tribunal’s president warned that long-awaited verdicts in the war crimes trials of Ratko Mladic, Goran Hadzic and Vojislav Seselj are being delayed because of their poor health.
