The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) ruled on Thursday that the instructions of the Law on the free-of-charge transfer of more than 1.3 million share package held by the state in the National Company of the Administration of Maritime Ports S.A.

Greece’s Ombudsman has condemned the Greek Police (ELAS) over the alleged detention of a citizen who was mistakenly taken for a fugitive criminal and held for eight days. It called on Public Order Minister Vassilis Kikilias to arrange for the victim to be compensated and to take measures to ensure the same mistake does not happen again.

All the national organisations of the Christian Liberal Alliance (ACL) of the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) are asking the Ombudsman to notify the Constitutional Court of Romania immediately abut Government Emergency Ordinance (OUG) 49 /2014, after PDL did so on July 4.

BELGRADE - There are citizens in Serbia whose civil rights have been seriously violated, but despite the protector of citizens giving a warning about this situation, nothing has been done to have it corrected, Serbia’s Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic says in his 2013 report.

“This is a huge blow for the institution of the ombudsman,” said human rights ombudsman Sasa Jankovic on Monday after parliament’s administrative board decided not to extend the contracts of 19 of his staff which ended last week.

BELGRADE - Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic has said that authorities must not allow that the pending reforms result in labor rights violations and that the heaviest burden falls on the shoulders of workers and the poorest citizens.

There was a 26 percent rise in the number of Greeks complaining about the country’s public administration last year compared to 2012, according to the annual report compiled by the Ombudsman.

BRUSSELS -- The loudly announced intensive fight against corruption is yet to produce results in terms of legally-binding court verdicts, Saša Janković has said.

The ombudsman made the remarks in his annual report submitted to the Serbian parliament, Beta has reported.
