A total of 32 million tons of grain has been transported through the grain corridor established in an effort to mitigate potential food crises arising from the Russia-Ukraine war, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has announced.

Some 30.3 million tons of grain have been transported by 953 ships to the world market through the Black Sea grain corridor since August 2022, a senior official from the Trade Ministry has announced.

On July 22, 2022, the UN and Turkey signed an agreement to open a safe maritime humanitarian corridor in the Black Sea. Through the Black Sea Grain Initiative, around 800 ships filled with grain and other food products have left three Ukrainian ports.

Wheat is 32% more expensive, and for sunflowers the annual increase is 35%. Maize prices the most - by 42%

The wheat harvest in Bulgaria is increasing by over 50% this year compared to 2020, crossing the limit of 7.1 million tons of production. This is the best level for the last five years.

100 tonnes of sunflower seed was destroyed in a fire that broke in a silo in the village of Blaskovo near Varna, said the press office of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. The incident was reported yesterday around 04.39 pm. Two firefighting crews arrived at the scene.

 In the Bulgarian oilseed market, the price indicators in the national currency remained at last week's level. However, a decline happened because of a weakening Bulgarian lev. The sunseed market looks more flat at the end of the season. Sunseed price closed the week unchanged at BGN 609/MT that is equivalent to USD 353/MT.

Serbia's damage to grains is estimated at EUR 600 million, Serbian Grain Association leader Vukoslav Savkovic told the Serbian National Television.
