Turkish security forces seized more than a ton of hashish in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, the provincial governor's office stated on May 20. 

Police in Kastoria, northern Greece, seized 61 kilos of hashish and arrested two people on Monday after a search of their car.

The 34-year-old driver and his passenger, a 31-year-old woman, were stopped by police for a routine check.

They were arrested after police found the cannabis resin in four sacks, as well as a pistol.

Security forces confiscated more than 80 kilograms (180 pounds) of hashish during separate operations carried out in the Turkish capital Ankara on Jan. 2, state-run Anadolu Agency reported, citing security sources.

The imam believed to be the ringleader of the Spain attackers had links with the 2004 Madrid bombers and recently travelled to Belgium, it has emerged.

More than two tons of hashish have been seized during an operation in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır province, the governor's office said in a statement on June 9, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
 
According to the statement, the operation in the province started on May 28 with the participation of more than 10,000 security personnel.
