A black spot in the Greek judiciary
After twelve years of suffering in the Greek courts, the former President of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) Andreas Georgiou was vindicated in March by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which condemned Greece for violating his right to a fair trial (Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights).

Jobless rate seen dropping below 10%, says minister
Unemployment in Greece will drop below 10% in the coming months, Minister of Labor & Social Welfare Adonis Georgiadis said on Friday.
The minister was welcoming the Hellenic Statistical Authority's (ELSTAT) latest amended report on unemployment figures.
Greek unemployment rate drops to 10.8% in May, ELSTAT says
Greece's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in May 2023 declined to 10.8%, showing a notable improvement compared to 12.7% in May 2022 and the upwards revised rate of 11.3% in April 2023, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
Discrepancy emerges in the labor market
For every job vacancy in the entire Greek economy there are 18 unemployed people, according to the data the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) released on Thursday.

Greek jobless rate eases to 11.8% in Q1
Greece's unemployment rate eased to 11.8% of the workforce in the first quarter of 2023, from 11.9% in the fourth quarter of 2022 and 13.8% in the corresponding period last year, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) reported on Thursday.

Turnover of Greek enterprises jumps 8.3% in Q1
Greek enterprises' turnover grew 8.3% or by 7.5 billion euros in the first quarter of 2023, totaling €97.56 billion, from €90.1 billion in the same period last year, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Wednesday.

Survey finds two in five citizens don’t read books
Two in every five Greeks aged 16 years or above did not visit any cultural sites or read any books in 2022 because they were not interested or did not like them, according to a new survey published by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

Why labor can’t meet demand
Over half a million unemployed fail to match the requirements of Greek businesses, so the unemployment rate, although decreasing, remains at significantly high levels (10.9% in March according to ELSTAT) and almost nine out of 10 businesses declare they are searching - in vain - for workers.
