A retired man living in İzmir, Arif Uçar, who creates wood-carved works in his 35-square-meter workshop in İzmir, sells many of his works to Europe.
Uçar, 55, who started creating wood artworks as a hobby after his retirement, received training in this field and then turned his hobby into a profession. His works are now in high demand in Europe.

Romanian Heritage Police Recover ‘Unique’ Lost Viking Helmet
Romanian police specialising in heritage crimes on February 7 recovered a medieval helmet "of Viking origin" that disappeared a decade ago, and which they called "unique in Romania" and very rare in the rest of Europe in an announcement issued on Friday.
A Romanian expert in historical illustration, Radu Oltean, said the helmet dated from the 11th century.

Motorcyclist killed by lightning strike, police in northern Greece say
Authorities in Greece say a 58-year-old motorcyclist was killed when lightning struck him on a highway.
Police say the man was found dead 40 kilometers east of the northern city of Thessaloniki with a hole in his helmet, presumably the result of the lightning striking him.
The victim was driving toward the city in stormy conditions.
Thousands of 'dangerous' traffic violations recorded over past two weeks
Traffic Police recorded a total of 7,510 "dangerous" traffic violations across the country in the past two weeks, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
Violations deemed to be dangerous include running a red light, driving in the opposite direction to the flow of traffic, not wearing a seat belt, not wearing a crash helmet and speeding.
