A Sofia grocery store on "Vitosha" Blvd. was found selling chewing gum and energy drinks flavored with hemp and cannabis, as reported by the Sofia-City Regional Directorate for Food Safety. The products in question contained ingredients with psychotropic effects exceeding the legal limit of 0.2%. Their packaging also featured images of hemp plants, which is prohibited.

Marihuana for more than half a million BGN was seized in the land of the Pomorian village Bata, the Burgas District Prosecutor's Office announced.

90 kg dry foliage mass and another 193 stalks of cannabis found in plantation. The number is record. A 57-year-old man from Burgas is detained, he is not criminally exposed and has not been convicted, the Burgas police have reported.

A Canadian company announced it acquired 150,000 acres for cannabis production in Bulgaria, Dnevnik reported. At the end of last year, International Cannabis Corp announced that it acquired 100% of the assets of the Balkan Cannabis Corp, which claims to own the land in Bulgaria and the necessary licenses for production of hemp and cannabis for medical purposes.

Eight months after green-lighting the cultivation and production of medical cannabis, Greece's leftist-led government has issued the first licenses to two private firms for growing hemp in the country.

Police in Pomorie found a drug factory with a record amount of cannabis.

Early in the morning on the Mantineia plateau, the air is chilly. Even in summer, the temperature drops considerably during the night despite climbing above 30 Celsius during the day. "Big swings in temperature aid the production of resin in cannabis plants," Argyris Mountzouris told us as he laid out a large cloth on the ground upon which to collect the plants.

More than 1,000 acres are the areas legally sown with cannabis in Bulgaria, Stefka Damianova, an expert from the Ministry of Agriculture, told BNR.

She announced that an ordinance by the Ministry, which is still in the project, stipulates that legal weed growing should be filed on an established specimen.
