The inaugural test firing of long-range air and missile defense system Siper Product-2 has concluded triumphantly in the northern province of Sinop.

The indigenously developed long-range air defense system is expected to start serving in the coming days to protect Türkiye's airspace, along with the Russian S-400s, as it has completed its final tests.

Turkey successfully test-fired long-range indigenous air defense missile Siper, a top defense official said on Nov. 6.

Different tests of the air defense system, which is planned to enter the army's inventory in 2023, will continue, İsmail Demir, the head of Turkey's Defense Industries Presidency, tweeted.

Turkey's HİSAR A+ air defense missile system has been delivered with all elements and the HİSAR O+ system has reached the stage of mass production, a top official announced on July 10.

İsmail Demir, head of Turkey's Defense Industries Authority, gave an update on the country's first indigenous air defense system on Twitter.

Turkey's medium-range air defense system Hisar-O triumphed tests hitting targets on-point, a top official said on March 9.

"We would like to express our gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to this project, especially the project partners Aselsan and Roketsan," İsmail Demir, head of Turkey's Defense Industries Authority, said in a tweet.

Slow-moving talks with the United States for the procurement of Patriot air defense systems have not matured, a senior Turkish official has said, while noting the country's progress in ongoing cooperation with France and Italy's Eurosam on SAMP/T systems. 

Leading Turkish defense contractor Aselsan is set to manufacture new versions of the SARP weapon system, a source said April 2.

Turkish defense electronics company Aselsan said on Jan. 16 it had signed, along with Roketsan, TÜBİTAK SAGE business partnership, an accord for a national long-range defense system project for the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM).

According to the country’s procurement office, Turkey’s state-controlled missile-maker Roketsan is developing a long-range ground-to-ground missile and weapons system.

The Turkish Defense Minister Fikri Işık has reviewed a test for Turkey-made medium-altitude air defense missile Hisar-O which is expected to meet the needs of the Turkish Land Forces Command.         

"We have many systems developed by Roketsan and Havelsan corporations," Işık told the project's engineers after a test was conducted in the Central Anatolian province of Aksaray.
