Hittite king comes to Istanbul

Tobacco planted on archaeological area in northern Turkey

Bathonea excavations shed light on Istanbul’s history
The Bathonea excavations that have been continuing in the Küçükçekmece lake basin for five years fill a gap in Istanbulâs chronology by revealing traces from 2,000 B.C.
The head of the excavations, Associate Professor Åengül Aydıngün said the first years were spent on cleaning, researching, mapping and geophysical work, while diggings started as of 2011-2012.

Hittite civilization discussed at congress
After six years, Ãorum again hosts the International Hittitology Congress. The congress, held every three years, will continue throughout the week The Ninth International Hittitology Congress, organized by Hitit University in the province of Ãorum, began on Sept. 1 with 196 academics from 23 countries participating.
