The United States announced on Feb. 12 it is revoking the designation of Yemen's Houthi rebels as a terrorist group effective Feb. 16, a reversal by the Biden administration welcomed by the United Nations and humanitarian groups who feared former president Donald Trump's actions would impede aid deliveries to the conflict-torn country facing the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

The Greek Foreign Ministry has released a statement condemning the latest attack in Saudi Arabia by the Yemeni Houthi rebels and expresses its full support for the oil-rich kingdom.

Turkey on Dec. 27 welcomed Yemen's new government after it was sworn in recently in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

"We hope that this development will contribute to the resolution of the conflict and the humanitarian crisis that has been going on for over six years," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

An explosion damaged a Greek-managed tanker at a Saudi Arabian terminal on the Red Sea just north of the Yemeni border, the ship's manager said on Wednesday, in an attack confirmed by Saudi Arabia.

A Greek-operated tanker was damaged by a mine at a Saudi Arabian terminal, damaging its hull, British maritime security company Ambrey said on Wednesday.

The Maltese-flagged tanker Agrari, is operated by Greece's TMS Tankers, Ambrey said. TMS could not be reached for immediate comment.

Aid organizations are making an urgent plea for funding to shore up their operations in war-torn Yemen, saying they have already been forced to stop some of their work even as the coronavirus rips through the country.

The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) distributed 2,000 food parcels to Yemen on May 16 to needy families.

The head of the Kızılay delegation, Mustafa Aydın, told Anadolu Agency that parcels were distributed to families and refugees in Marib as part of a campaign to distribute 5,000 food parcels in Yemen's different provinces.

The Saudi-led coalition engaged in Yemen on April 27 urged a main separatist group that declared self-rule in the south to rescind its move, saying it was an "escalatory action" at a time all parties should focus on confronting the novel coronavirus.

Yemen's main southern separatist group announced early on April 26 it would establish self-rule in areas under its control, which the Saudi-backed government warned would have "catastrophic consequences".
