It is time for the United States to seriously consider closing down the American presence at Incirlik Air Base on the Anatolian Peninsula

A crashed drone was retrieved at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey's southern Adana province and taken to provincial police command by anti-terror police units for a further investigation on Dec. 24. 

According to the information obtained from security sources, the crashed drone was found on Wednesday in the 10th Tanker Base Command area.

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper said on Monday that he needed to speak with his Turkish counterpart to understand how serious President Tayyip Erdogan was when he said he could shut down the Incirlik air base, which hosts US nuclear warheads.

The U.S. should move its nuclear weapons from Incirlik Air Base and start looking for alternatives to the longtime military hub in Turkey, a country that can no longer be fully relied on, analysts and former military officials said.

The U.S. military maintains about 50 nuclear warheads at Incirlik, according to nuclear watchdog organizations.

Germany began on Sunday to pull its troops out of a Turkish air base where they have supported international operations against Islamic State following a row with Ankara over access, a German defense ministry spokesman said.

Turkey will maintain a ban on visits by German politicians to a key airbase in its south which is used for raids against Islamic State group in Syria, the foreign minister said Monday, AFP reported.

Turkey and Germany are working to resolve a bilateral crisis over Ankara's rejection of a number of German lawmakers' visit to the Incirlik base, where German troops are based, German Ambassador to Turkey Martin Erdmann has said. 

Germany’s defense minister says her office has drafted a list of eight locations where it could move aircraft supporting the anti-IS mission if Turkey continues to block German lawmakers from visiting troops at the Incirlik base.

Turks are "questioning the presence of U.S.-led coalition forces" at the Incirlik air base in southern Turkey, Reuters has said.

The agency reported this on Thursday quoting Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Veysi Kaynak, who spoke for the A Haber broadcaster.

The State Department and Pentagon ordered the families of U.S. diplomats and military personnel on March 29 to leave posts in southern Turkey due to security fears.

The two agencies said dependents of American staffers at the U.S. consulate in Adana, the Incirlik air base and two other locations must leave.
