Ombudsman urges media to oppose any pressure

BELGRADE - Serbian ombudsman Sasa Jankovic on Monday congratulated media and media professionals on May 3, World Press Freedom Day, encouraging them to oppose any form of pressure more strongly and in a more organised manner.

He urged authorities and everyone else to enable media and journalists to work freely and, in particular, refrain from any attacks against them.

Turkey's first Kurdish-language search engine goes online

Turkey's first search engine in the Kurdish language has gone online after five years of technical work, research and development.

The search engine, called "Sekretin" - meaning success in Kurdish - will also have a video-sharing website in the next few months, its manager Serdar Anu?tekin told the state-run Anadolu Agency in the southeastern province of Diyarbak?r on Nov. 5.

BELGRADE -- Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic has told reporters that he "has no new information about the death of Predrag Gojkovic."

He added that his previous statement that Gojkovic was killed was based on what has been presented publicly.

Serbian Ombudsman Pressed on Friend's Suicide

Serbian police on Wednesday published documents about the suicide of a friend of Sasa Jankovic, Serbian ombudsman, which occurred in Jankovic's own apartment and with Jankovic's gun in 1993.

The documents show traces of gunpowder were found on Jankovic hands.

The ballistics expert's report noted that there is no way to determine how the gunpowder ended up on Jankovic's hands.

According to German newspaper “Bild”, the 19 year-old’s fortune is estimated at 7 billion Euros. The Prince and his family own “LGT” bank, real estate and palaces in Austria.

Steven Seagal Performs In Crimea, Wears T-shirt With Putin's Face

Hollywood action actor and musician Steven Seagal and his blues band played a weekend concert in Crimea, reports the Russian wire agency RIA Novosti. 

He appeared at a bikers' party in Crimean city of Sevastopol, wearing a t-shirt with the face of Russian president Vladimir Putin, on a stage adorned with flags of Russia and the renegade Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). 

Ponta: We shall earmark 50 million lei to flood-affected counties

The Government will earmark 50 million lei for removing the effects of floods in the Gorj, Valcea, Arges, Olt, Teleorman and Prahova counties, Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced on Thursday.

Victor Ponta also added that, if necessary, funds will also be approved for Timis and Caras-Severin counties, after some assessments are carried out first.
