International reactions to the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 shootdown

Turkey on May 22 offered condolences to Pakistan over a deadly plane crash in the early hours of the day.

"We receive the news with deep sorrow that a Pakistan International Airlines plane crashed into a residential area close to Jinnah Airport in Karachi resulting in the loss of many lives," Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Greece's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday expressed its condolences to the people and government of Turkey after an avalanche slammed into a mountain in eastern Turkey killing 38 people, including the rescue crews who rushed to help those trapped.

The Greek Foreign Ministry has issued a message to extend condolences to the families of the victims after a Ukrainian Boeing-737 carrying 176 people crashed in Iran early Wednesday.

Turkey on Sept. 29 expressed its condolences to India for the many lives lost in recent floods. 

Russia on Monday released fresh information to back its claim the missile that downed a Malaysia Airlines flight over war-torn Ukraine in 2014 was fired by Kiev's forces.

At least 35 people were killed in Genoa on Tuesday when a part of the Morandi Bridge, a highway viaduct, collapsed.

President of the Eurogroup Mario Centeno on Thursday tweeted his condolences to the families affected by the deadly wildfires that ravaged eastern Attica earlier this week.

"Deeply saddened by all suffering caused by these tragic forest fires in Greece," Centeno said.

Investigators probing the 2014 downing of flight MH17 said May 24 for the first time that the missile which shot down the plane over eastern Ukraine traveled from a Russian military brigade.

Turkey's prime minister conveyed his condolences to his Greek counterpart on April 12 over the death of a fighter pilot when the Greek jet crashed into the Aegean Sea.

According to reports on Monday, the shopping mall blaze killed at least 53 people.
