Turkish intelligence has "neutralized" two PKK terrorists who were poised to launch an attack in the Turkish Armed Forces' operational zone in northern Iraq.

Defense Ministry said Saturday it launched airstrikes in the Gara, Qandil and Asos regions of northern Iraq on Friday, destroying 25 targets belonging to the PKK terror group.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has called for the eradication of the PKK from Syria and Iraq.

"We need to fight [against the PKK], take the oil and energy resources from its hands and give them back to the Syrian people," Fidan said during an interview with Sky News Arabia on July 24.

The PKK has blown up ammunition depots in the villages of Dergele and Miska in northern Iraq, the Defense Ministry said on July 3.

"Disregarding the lives of villagers, the terrorists blew up the ammunition depots and completely set fire to the village of Dergele," the ministry said in a written statement.

A total of 10 PKK members have been "neutralized" in recent operations in northern Syria and Iraq, the Defense Ministry announced on May 24.

According to the ministry's statement, five PKK members were "neutralized" within the Euphrates Shield Operation zone in Syria.

Turkish security forces have "neutralized" 15 PKK terrorists identified in northern Iraq and four PKK/YPG terrorists identified in northern Syria, the Defense Ministry has announced.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has attributed PKK's recent attacks on Turkish communities in Europe to what he described as Türkiye's efforts to corner the organization.

"At this point, thank God, we do not leave room for terrorist groups, we do not let them breathe, we do not let them open their eyes," Fidan said during a gathering in Istanbul late on March 27.

Türkiye has called on prominent European nations not to show tolerance for the PKK's activities and provocations on their soils following recent incidents in which PKK sympathizers carried out attacks targeting a Turkish diplomatic mission as well as Turkish communities.

Ankara has emphasized that the PKK terror organization constitutes a threat to social peace and public order in Western Europe, as proven by the recent incidents in which its members attacked Turkish citizens in various cities in Belgium.

A joint declaration by Türkiye and Iraq following a high-level security summit in Baghdad has announced the two neighbors' will to mutually fight the PKK terror organization on Iraqi soil. It also underlined that Baghdad has banned the PKK for the first time, a move Ankara hailed.
