Death toll in traffic accidents across Turkey rises to 86 on 8th day of Eid al-Adha public holiday

The death toll in traffic accidents across Turkey rose to 86 on the 8th day of the extended 10-day long Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) public holiday.

Some 384 people were injured in road accidents during the same period. 

A total of 16 people were killed and 16 were injured on the 8th day of the public holiday alone in different accidents across Turkey.

Turkey calls on UN to be active for Rohingya

Turkey has called on the United Nations to play a more dynamic role against the ongoing violence against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar's Rakhine state. 

"The United Nations should be more active in this issue," Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım told reporters on Sept. 1 after performing Eid al-Adha prayers at the Süleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul. 

62 killed, 319 injured in traffic accidents across Turkey in first six days of Eid al-Adha

Some 62 people lost their lives and 319 were injured in road accidents across Turkey in the first six days of the 10-day long extended Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) holiday, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Aug. 30.

In first six days of Eid al-Adha, 103 traffic accidents occurred due to excessive speed and carelessness across Turkey despite tightened security measurements.
