Syrian migrants give flowers, thank you notes to locals celebrating Eid in Turkey's southeast

Syrian migrants have given flowers, water and thank you notes to locals celebrating Eid al-Adha in the southeastern province of Adıyaman.

The Syrians, who had to move to Adıyaman after escaping across the border from their war-torn country, distributed carnations on Adıyaman's Gölbaşı and Sanat streets as a sign of gratitude late on Aug. 31.

Muslims Around the World Celebrate Eid al-Adha

Muslims around the world honor Eid al-Adha, one of the greatest holidays in Islam. The celebrations began on Thursday, with a total of four days. The holiday is related to family values ​​and symbolizes humility and forgiveness.

Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is the greatest religious holiday for Muslims. Celebrations usually take three days.

World's Muslims celebrate 'Feast of Sacrifice'

Muslims worldwide, including those in Turkey, are celebrating Islam's holy "Feast of Sacrifice"—known as Eid al-Adha in Arabic—with millions of Muslims around the world making a pilgrimage this week to Saudi Arabia.

The four-day celebration began on Sept. 1 in Turkey and most other countries with a predominantly Muslim population.  

Eight people killed, 550 injured in traffic accidents across Turkey at start of Eid al-Adha

Eight people lost their lives and 550 were injured in a total of 300 road accidents across Turkey in the first two days of the extended 10-day long Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) holiday, the Interior Ministry has announced.

On the first day of the holiday, on Aug. 26, four people died and 290 were injured in accidents across the country. 

Turkish tourism players, exporters split over public holiday for Eid al-Adha

Aug. 31, a Thursday, will be the eve of Eid al-Adha, which will continue for the next four days. Turkey also marks the public holiday of Victory Day on Aug. 30.
