Fethullah Gülen, the leader of the FETÖ terrorist organization behind the failed 2016 coup attempt, has died at the age of 83 in Pennsylvania, the United States, Turkish security sources confirmed on Oct. 21 after several reports emerged in the Turkish media.

Twelve people, including three FETÖ suspects, have been apprehended while attempting to illegally cross into Greece from the northwestern city of Edirne, the Defense Ministry announced on Aug. 28.

The individuals were intercepted by Turkish border forces, the ministry said in a written statement.

Turkish authorities have arrested three key suspects linked to the FETÖ terrorist organization, including one accused of aiding the escape of the primary suspect in the failed coup attempt in 2016.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday held a telephone conversation with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and discussed bilateral relations and regional and global issues, Türkiye's Communications Directorate said.

A deal between Türkiye and the United States on the sale of 40 new F-16s to the former creates a window of opportunity for further improving the bilateral ties should the latter show more respect to the Turkish sensitivities in combatting terrorism.
