Istanbul Europe’s busiest airport in March
Türkiye's mega airport Istanbul was the busiest one in Europe, with an average of 1,263 daily flights in March, according to EUROCONTROL.
Sabiha Gökçen, also in Istanbul, ranked 17th on the list with an average of 549 daily flights.
Istanbul Airport was followed by Heathrow with 1,190 flights and Charles de Gaulle in Paris with 1,135 flights.

Istanbul Airport ranked busiest in Europe
Istanbul Airport has been ranked as the busiest airport in Europe with 1,310 flights between Aug. 24 and 30, according to data from EUROCONTROL.
According to the weekly report, which also compares the flight performances before the pandemic, many airports in Europe lagged far behind 2019 figures, while Istanbul Airport increased its flights by 2 percent.

Turkish court jails 3 in ex-Nissan CEO escape case
A Turkish court on Feb. 24 handed down jail terms to three people who were accused of aiding former Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn's escape from Japan to Lebanon via an airport in Istanbul.
A private cargo company executive and two pilots, who were charged with "migrant smuggling", got four years and two months in prison each.

Turkish cargo plane makes emergency landing in Istanbul
A Turkish Airlines (THY) cargo plane flying from Istanbul to Kazakhstan's Almaty city on Jan. 3 made an emergency landing in Istanbul as it encountered a flock of birds shortly after taking off from Atatürk Airport.
Turkey evacuates 4 COVID-19 patients from Bangladesh
Turkey on May 24 evacuated four COVID-19 patients including an expatriate from Bangladesh, officials said.
"Tuba Ahsan, a Turkish citizen, her Bangladeshi husband Mossaddique Ahsan, and their 3-year-old twins Huma and Ziyad were evacuated in an air ambulance," a statement by the Turkish Embassy in Dhaka read.
Istanbul Airport boasts 64 mln passengers over last year
After operations were transferred from Ataturk Airport to the new Istanbul Airport, the new mega-airport served 64 million passengers in a nearly one-year period, from April 2019 to the end of this March, according to the airport operator.
