Over two weeks, Palestinians watched as Israeli military bulldozers tore up mile after mile of their streets and alleys, sewage seeping into the dusty ruts left behind.

The people of Tulkarem and Jenin, the two West Bank towns that were the focus of Israel's latest military raids, said they had never before experienced such a scale of destruction.

Journalists in the occupied West Bank are being "attacked and harassed" by Israeli forces, according to two United Nations experts, who accused Israel of trying to prevent reporting on alleged "war crimes."

At the end of August, Israel launched a large-scale offensive across the northern West Bank, fighting Palestinian militants and leaving widespread destruction.

Israeli forces appeared to have withdrawn from three refugee camps in the occupied West Bank by Sept. 6 morning, after a more-than weeklong military operation that left dozens dead and a trail of destruction.

The Israeli army has deployed more forces to the northern parts of the occupied West Bank, with its deadly raids entering the second week.

The Israeli army pushed military reinforcement into certain areas in Jenin and Tulkarem, amid fire exchange with Palestinian fighters.

The mayor of Jenin on Sunday compared an ongoing Israeli military operation in the northern occupied West Bank city to an "earthquake," estimating that about 500 million shekels ($135.2 million) of damage had been caused so far.

The Israeli army targeted four cities in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, launching a major new operation alongside its 10-month-old war in Gaza.

Türkiye has condemned Israel's plans to recognize settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank legally.

"The decisions taken by Israel to 'legalize' some settlement outposts and to 'approve' new housing units in the occupied West Bank are flagrant violations of international law," said a Foreign Ministry statement issued on July 5.

Palestinian health officials said Israeli forces killed seven Palestinians during a raid Tuesday in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, where the military said it had launched a counterterrorism operation.

The Palestinian health ministry in Ramallah said nine more people had been wounded, including two who were in critical condition.

The ministry condemned the raid and called on the international community to put pressure on the Israeli army to stop such operations in hospitals.

Undercover Israeli agents, some disguised as medical staff, raided a West Bank hospital Tuesday and shot dead three Palestinians the army alleged were Hamas militants, in the first such operation in eight years.

The Israeli military said forces entered the hospital — a major health facility serving Jenin city and its adjacent refugee camp — to target a "Hamas terrorist cell".
