Istanbul police detain planners of deadly PKK bomb attacks

Police have detained the planners of two deadly bomb attacks carried out by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in 2016 in Istanbul. 

Istanbul Governor Vasip Şahin stated that 44 people were detained in anti-terror operations on July 13, including those who planned deadly car bomb attacks in Beşiktaş and Vezneciler last year.

Hospitals treating 71 terror victims in Turkey

Hospitals in Turkey are currently treating more than 70 people who have been injured in recent terrorist attacks, Health Minister Recep Akdağ told reporters in Ankara on Jan. 11.

Some 71 people wounded in deadly terror attacks in Istanbul, Kayseri and İzmir were currently undergoing medical treatments in hospitals, of which eight were in critical condition, Akdağ said. 

Activities of 94 associations across Turkey terminated under state of emergency: Ministry

The activities of 94 associations allegedly "threatening national security" and with links to terrorist organizations across 20 provinces have been terminated as a part of a decree law issued under Turkey's ongoing state of emergency, the Interior Ministry stated on Dec. 30.

Material used in bomb attack in Kayseri is similar to Istanbul attacks: Deputy PM

The materials used in a car bomb attack on a bus carrying off-duty military personnel in the central Turkish city of Kayseri on Dec.17 were similar to those used in a twin bombing last week in Istanbul, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş said.

Kurtulmus made the comment in an interview with broadcaster NTV. 

Death toll rises to 44 in twin bombings in Istanbul

The death toll in the deadly Istanbul bomb attacks has risen to 44, Health Minister Recep Akdağ announced on Dec. 12.

Some 36 police officers were among the victims, Akdağ said.  

The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK), an offshoot linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), claimed responsibility for the attack on Dec. 11.
