Vessels with 'tree of life' motifs found in Turkey's Domuztepe

Excavations in the Domuztepe Mound in the southern province of Kahramanmaraş, considered to be the biggest settlement in the era since the usage of the term "Near East," have unearthed vessels depicting "tree of life" motifs.

The mound is located close to the Kelibişler neighborhood in the Pazarcık district.

Historical houses face destruction due to road enlargement in Turkey's south

Historical houses in the southern province of Kahramanmaraş are facing destruction due to a road enlargement project, despite officially being protected by regulations. 

The demolition of the houses in the Turan neighborhood has started despite the area being an urban protected area and the fact that houses were officially registered. 

Turkey, EU work to speed up flow of European funds for Syrian refugees

Turkey and the European Commission have begun technical work to overcome bureaucratic obstacles and accelerate the release of 3 billion Euros to Syrian refugees, Deputy Prime Minister Veysi Kaynak announced Dec. 26.

"We are now working on it," Kaynak told the Hürriyet Daily News during a visit to the Doğan Media Center on Dec. 26. 

Four wounded in random fire over distribution of 'unholy' epilation brochures in Trabzon

Four people were wounded on Oct. 20 when an assailant opened random fire on locals following a brawl that erupted over the distribution of advertising brochures belonging to an epilation center in the Black Sea province of Trabzon, claiming that they were unholy, Doğan News Agency has reported.
