OSAKA (Japan Times) - Evacuation orders were issued Thursday for 110,000 people in Kyoto Prefecture due to an escalating risk of mudslides as heavy rains hit the area.

Japan's Kansai Paint has acquired a 50 percent stake in Turkey's Polisan Holding's paint unit, Polisan Boya, for $113 million, the companies said in a written statement on Oct. 31. 

Bulgaria will open a new consular office in Japan, according to a decision of the caretaker government

It will be located in Kinki, a western region of the island of Honshu, which generates 16% of the GDP of the country and is considered Japan's second biggest economic center.

Floods and landslides following torrential rain in western Japan have killed at least two people and prompted one city to advise more than 80,000 people to flee their homes, officials said Sunday.
      
One man was confirmed dead in Kyoto city early Sunday after he was swept away by a flooded river while trying to build a sandbag barrier, Kyoto prefectural officials said.
