Moderate tremor rattles Karpathos

An undersea earthquake, measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale, rattled Greece's southern Aegean island of Karpathos on Wednesday, but there were no initial reports of damage or injuries.

According to the National Observatory's Geodynamic Institute, the quake's epicenter was located 81 kilometers southeast of Karpathos.

An undersea earthquake rattled Greece's southern Aegean island of Karpathos on Friday, but there were no initial reports of damage or injuries.
The National Observatory's Geodynamic Institute gave a preliminary magnitude of 4.8 for the quake.
The quake occurred at 6.02 p.m. at a depth of 12.6 kilometers. The epicenter was located 39 kilometers northwest of Karpathos.

Karpathos rattled by moderate quake

A light earthquake occurred just after midnight on Monday in a sea area 79 kilometers east of the southern Aegean island of Karpathos.

According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the 4.7 magnitude quake occurred at 12.46 a.m. while its epicenter was some 492 kilometers southeast of Athens.

No damages have been reported.

Three tremors shake Crete

Three moderate earthquakes rattled residents of eastern Crete and the nearby islands of Kasos and Karpathos in the southern Aegean early on Friday.

All three quakes struck some 30 kilometers off the coast of Zakros on Crete's eastern tip.

The first, with a magnitude of 3.9 Richter, struck at 4.16 a.m., according to the National Observatory's Geodynamic Institute.

Government sets 24.6 mln euro subsidy for airline services to islands

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport said it would pay a subsidy of 24,608,000 euros through a tender for 12 airline services to several Greek islands.

The tender will also set the maximum charter rates according to the season and the minimum frequency of flights.

4.3 magnitude tremor shakes Karpathos island

Authorities say an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.3 has struck near the island of Karpathos in southeast Greece but no injuries or damage has been reported.
The Athens Geodynamic Institute says the earthquake occurred at 7.31 a.m. local time Tuesday about 47 kilometers northeast of the island at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Travel alert issued for Greece as wildfires looming ahead

Romania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) has informed Romanian citizens in Greece or wanting to travel there that the General Secretariat of Civil Protection announced that there is a high risk of wildfires (grade 4 out of 5) on several islands on Monday due to high temperatures. According to a MAE statement the islands are: Samos, Kos, Rhodos, Saria, Karpathos, Crete (east).
