Voutsis to visit Greek soldiers detained in Turkey

Greece's Parliament Speaker Nikos Voutsis was on Wednesday scheduled to visit the two Greek soldiers that are being detained in Turkey since March after accidentally crossing a borderline between the two countries.

Voutsis, currently in Istanbul for a summit of parliament speakers, was expected to arrive at Edirne prison at 5 p.m.

Opposition leader urges Turkey to end 'illegal detention' of Greek soldiers

Greece's conservative opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday urged Turkey to end the "illegal detention" of two Greek servicemen arrested in early May for straying into Turkish territory during a border patrol.

"[Turkey] must end the illegal detention of our two officers here and now," Mitsotakis said during a visit to the northern Greek city of Alexandroupoli.

Opposition slams gov't over 'tsunami' of last-minute amendments

New Democracy lawmakers walked out of Friday's parliamentary debate in protest at what the main opposition party described as a "tsunami" of last-minute amendments to a bill submitted by the Finance Ministry.
