The Culture and Tourism Ministry has made great strides toward restoring historical structures in the provinces ravaged by last year's deadly twin earthquakes in the country's south, bringing various cultural assets back to life.

Turkish media reported that two mortar shells fell in the mined border area near the Turkish town of Kilis and the Turkish armed forces are retaliating with a barrage of artillery fire.
A fire has broken out in the area.

12 terrorists ‘neutralized’ after PKK attack on border
The Turkish Army "neutralized" 12 terrorists after PKK/YPG terrorists in Syria carried out a rocket attack on the Öncüpınar Border Gate area in the Turkish province of Kilis, the Defense Ministry has stated.
No casualties were reported, while a fire broke out in an empty field where five rockets fell in the southern province of Kilis.
‘Cappadocia model’ to boost tourism in southeastern Turkey

Turkey introduces 1st destination-oriented regional tourism brand
Turkey introduced a promotional program on June 27 for the "Mesopotamia" brand, which was created to promote the tourism potential of the southeastern Anatolia region to the world.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said Turkey has the richest and most unique homeland in the world with its history, culture and geographical structure.
Rockets fired from Syria fall in southern Turkey
Rockets fired from across the border with Syria fell in Turkey's southern Kilis province, the country's National Defense Ministry said late on March 18.
"Rockets determined to be fired from Syria fell on an empty field in Kilis. No citizens were injured and no damage or loss occurred in the incident," the ministry said on Twitter.

Syrians leaving Turkey for Eid al-Fitr

The children of parents who had made written promises to quit smoking have received bicycles as part of a campaign carried out by the municipality in the southern province of Kilis.
Ancient olive seeds unearthed in Kilis
Archaeological excavations in Oylum Mound, one of the biggest of its kind in the southeastern Turkey, have unearthed olive seeds from 4,000 years ago. The seeds, found in Kilis along the Turkish-Syrian border, date back the time the Great Pyramids of Egypt were built.
