The Turkish president said on Oct. 20 that Ankara expects the U.S. to facilitate the withdrawal of YPG/PKK terrorists from northern Syria, and warned of the operation's resume otherwise. 

The PKK/YPG terrorists have violated the safe zone deal with the U.S. 20 times since it came into effect on Oct. 17, according to Turkish Defense Ministry on Oct. 20.

YPG/PKK terrorists carried out 14 attacks in the last 36 hours, while Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) have fully complied with the deal on establishment of the safe zone, said Turkish National Defense Ministry on Oct. 19.

Your Excellency, what is the purpose of the Turkish military operation in northern Syria and what do you expect it to be?

Two civilians were killed and 12 others were injured after terrorist group PKK/YPG fired mortar bombs from Syria into Kızıltepe district of southeastern Mardin province on Oct. 15, officials said.

A total of 550 PKK/PYD-YPG terrorists have been "neutralized" since the start of Turkey's anti-terror operation in northern Syria, the National Defense Ministry said on Oct. 14.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.
The ministry updated the figure in a Twitter post.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Oct. 12 he hoped the YPG, the Syrian offshoot of the illegal PKK, would "back up" fighting the Turkish military in northeastern Syria.

A senior U.S. official from the State Department has admitted that the YPG is the Syrian offshoot of the PKK terrorist organization from which Turkey has been suffering horrific terrorist attacks since 1984.

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) is bolstering security for potential Turkish targets in the Greek capital and other parts of the country amid concerns about anarchist reactions to Turkey's operations in Syria. Increased patrols will also extend to potential American targets.
