US troops block Russian forces way to oil fields in Syria

U.S. soldiers present in regions of northern Syria under the YPG/PKK terror group's control stopped a Russian military convoy from reaching oil fields in Al-Hasakah province on Jan. 21.

The move comes amid an ongoing dispute between the U.S. and Russia over the Rumeylan oil field in northeast Al-Hasakah.

Turkey 'neutralizes' 3 PKK terrorists in N Iraq

Turkish security forces "neutralized" three PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, the Defense Ministry said on Jan. 16.

On Twitter, the ministry said terrorists were "neutralized" in an air-backed operation by Turkish Armed Forces in Hakurk region.

Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralize" to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

Turkish soldier, security guard killed in northern Iraq

A Turkish soldier and security guard were killed in counter-terror operations in northern Iraq, Turkey's Defense Ministry said on Jan. 13.

The two were martyred during operations in the Haftanin region, said a ministry statement, wishing Allah's mercy upon them and conveying condolences to their grieving families.

Turkey launches Operation Kapan-2 in country's south

Turkey launched Operation Kapan-2 to eliminate terrorists in the country's south, the Interior Ministry announced on Jan. 12.

The gendarmerie command launched the counter-terrorism operation in the rural area of Hatay province, the ministry said in a statement.

A total of 623 security personnel, including gendarmerie and police forces, are taking part in the operation.
