National Security Council discusses election security

The National Security Council (MGK) has discussed the election security and the measures needed for the May 14 polls, the council said in a statement after it convened in the capital Ankara on March 30.

"Measures for holding the May 14, 2023 elections in an environment of peace and security were reviewed," the statement said.

Türkiye summons French envoy over ‘awarding’ of YPG members

The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned France's ambassador to Türkiye Herve Magro on March 27 and "strongly condemned" the French Senate for hosting the YPG and its female affiliate YPJ, diplomatic sources have said.

Ankara "does not accept" the hosting and awarding of the members of the YPG and YPJ with "medals of honor" by the French Senate, the Turkish officials told the envoy.

Most wanted PKK member killed in anti-terror op

Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu has announced that one of the most senior PKK terrorists, so-called top-ranking PKK member in the country and wanted in the red category, was killed alongside six other terrorists in the southeastern province of Şırnak in an anti-terror operation.

In the operation carried out by the provincial Gendarmerie Command, seven terrorists were "neutralized."

Türkiye will not allow any sort of fait accompli that targets its national security and interests, the council said following a meeting at the helm of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

12 PKK terrorists ‘neutralized’ in Syria’s north

A total of 12 PKK/YPG terrorists who attempted to attack the regions of the Olive Branch and Peace Spring operations have been neutralized, the Defense Ministry has said.

"The fight against terrorism of our heroic Turkish Armed Forces continues with determination, day and night," the ministry said in its social media post.
