The trial of Washington Post correspondent Jason Rezaian on charges of spying on Iran opened behind closed doors in Tehran on May 26, state media reported.

Washington Post journalist Jason Rezaian will appear in court on May 26 accused of spying and other crimes against Iran, his lawyer told AFP on May 19.

Former transport minister Miron Mitrea was sentenced to a two-year prison term without suspension, in a definitive sentence of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ, Romania's Supreme Court).

The state would not wiretap Turkish citizens unless one commits an offense or is suspected of attempting a crime, Interior Minister Efkan Ala has said, amid widespread concern over a controversial new security package.

Ala pledged the previous eavesdropping cases would not be repeated and said earlier cases would be inquired at a parliamentary committee.
