Coast Guard officers ambushed by armed men in central Athens after drug raid
Two Greek Coast Guard officers were injured when their unit was attacked by a group of about 50 masked individuals shortly after a drug-related raid in a house in the district of Exarchia on Thursday night.
Authorities had been tipped by an Iraqi national whom they had arrested earlier in Piraeus with 200 grams of cannabis and were looking for his supplier.
Two policemen in hospital after Athens eviction attack
Two police officers were being treated at an Athens hospital on Monday after being attacked in the course of an eviction in the downtown neighborhood of Aghios Panteleimonas.
One of the officers was cut with a sharp object and the other was splashed with nitric acid when they helped a bailiff execute an eviction order against a hoarder in a ground-floor apartment on Lemesos Street.
Athens prosecutor opens probe into trigger-happy publisher
An Athens prosecutor has ordered a preliminary investigation into an incident on Wednesday involving a publisher firing a gun in the air to scare off a court bailiff who had come to serve him papers at his newspaper's offices.
The purpose of the prosecutor's probe is to ascertain whether Stephanos Chios threatened the bailiff and whether he violated gun laws.

A 35-year-old man was arrested in Patra on Monday while police are looking for another two suspects on charges they were growing 750 cannabis trees in a remote area. Police said they found the plantation after hiking for five kilometers through forestland in Aigialeia.
Cyprus green lights cannabis for medical purposes
The Cabinet approved a bill legalising the cultivation and commercial exploitation of medicinal cannabis in Cyprus during Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting.
The announcement was made by Health Minister George Pamboridis to reporters outside the Presidential Palace.

British MP urges people to use cannabis on parliament grounds (VIDEO)
Labour MP Paul Flynn making his case in the Commons for the legalisation of medicinal cannabis in parliament on Wednesday, urged people to come to Parliament to ‘break the law’ and smoke the drug on the premises of the House.
Flynn was arguing in favour of legalising medicinal cannabis for patients with chronic conditions.
Greece legalises marijuana for medical purposes!
Greece has become the latest European country to legalise marijuana for medical purposes.
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said last week that doctors will soon be able to prescribe the drug for a variety of medical conditions.
Cannabis is normally prescribed for conditions like muscle spasms, chronic pain, PTSD, epilepsy and cancer.

Half a ton of cannabis netted in two operations
Police from Attica's narcotics unit have confiscated half a ton of cannabis in two parallel operations.
The first operation resulted in the discovery of 210 kilos of cannabis and the arrest of three men on Friday, including a 40-year-old Albanian national, believed to be the ringleader, and two Greeks, aged 28 and 18.

Bulgarian MPs Allow Lenders to Demand European Distraint Orders
Lawmakers in Bulgaria have passed legislation giving creditors the right to ask courts to issue a European distraint order for debtors' assets.
The order can be demanded before the debt litigation has been filed with a first-instance court.
Full and partial refusal to issue such an order can be appealed according to the newly-adopted provisions, Focus News Agency reports.
