BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday Serbia's new Lazar 3 armoured personnel carrier was garnering major interest abroad.

The exhibition "Gheorghe Lazar National College - 160 years of Romanian education", organized on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the establishment of the educational institution, was opened on Friday at the National Museum of Romania's History (MNIR).

Today, on April 11th  the Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrates the traditional St. Lazar's Day, known here as Lazarovden.

The holiday is celebrated each year on the eight day (last Saturday) before Easter with typical ceremonies called Lazaruvane. The day is a festival devoted to young girls, pastures, fields and woods.

The High Magistrates Council in Romania on Thursday accepted a request submitted by Attorney General Augustin Lazar, 63, to retire following a row over his alleged collaboration with the former communist regime.

Prosecutor General Augustin Lazar has filed a retirement request with the Supreme Council of Magistrates. He confirmed the information for AGERPRES. Lazar specified that his term in office as a Prosecutor General ends on April 27. Augustin Lazar had previously applied for a new term in office as prosecutor general, but the Minister of Justice, Tudorel Toader, rejected his candidacy.

Romania's Attorney General Augustin Lazar said on Monday he is neither a commissioned, nor a non-commissioned officer or informer of the late Securitate political police or any other secret service. He told a news conference that he wanted to make a series of remarks out of respect to his colleagues and to truth, a value he said has always guided his life and professional activity.

The National Council for the Study of Securitate Archives (CNSAS) decided on Thursday to recheck Prosecutor General Augustin Lazar as regards the quality of worker or collaborator of the communist Securitate political police, given the information and the new elements that were debated in the press.

The Prosecution Section of the Superior Council of Magistrates (CSM) on Monday issued a negative opinion on the proposal made by Justice Minister Tudorel Toader to remove Attorney General Augustin Lazar from office.

Today, on March 31th  the Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrates the traditional St. Lazar's Day, known here as Lazarovden.

It brings together individuals and organizations with rich experience in creative industries, the government has announced.

Council members will help the Prime Minister to fully understand the needs of this sector so as to be able to make well-informed decisions for its further development.
