Britain: The Sun Newspaper Now Backs Labour

The Sun, one of Britain’s best-selling newspapers known for its record of backing election winners, has made a surprising turn. Owned by Rupert Murdoch, the tabloid, which was ideologically aligned with the Conservatives, announced on Wednesday, just before the parliamentary elections, that it now supports the Labour Party and its leader, Keir Starmer.

Blair "asked for EUR 450k for 20-minute hunger forum speech"

The British media have reported that Tony Blair turned down a speaking engagement in a world hunger forum in Sweden in a dispute over this fee.

According to the reports, the former British prime minister and the former Middle East peace envoy for the Quartet asked to be paid EUR 450,000 - or EUR 380 per second of his 20-minute address.

UK Labour, Lib Dems Leaders Resign over Poor Election Showing  

Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg, the respective leaders of Britain's Labour Party and Liberal Democrats, have announced their resignations following disappointing results of their parties at Thursday's general election.

Miliband said he would step down after the Victory in Europe Day commemorations later on Friday and that his deputy Harriet Harman would be interim Labour leader.
