Revenue service seizes 11 tones of tobacco in record bust
Ljubljana – Financial Administration officers have discovered 11 tones of loose tobacco hidden inside 75 foil wrapped cardboard boxes in a lorry with Slovenian license plates in what is a record such bust. The Financial Administration (FURS) hit upon the illegal cargo on Tuesday as its staff inspected a lorry operated by two foreign nationals who were without an employment contract.
Police dismantle illegal cigarette plant
Police said on Thursday they located a fully equipped illegal tobacco processing and production plant as part of an organized operation in an area of Attica.
Four people were arrested in connection with the case, accused of being members of a criminal organization and running the factory. The case file also includes the landlord, who is being sought by police.

Man arrested for selling illegal tobacco in downtown Athens
A 35-year-old foreign national has been arrested for selling contraband tobacco outside the National Technical University of Athens on Stournari Street.
Police said the suspect was picked up on Thursday afternoon while trying to sell tobacco products to passers-by.

Eight Bulgarian and international organizations signed a memorandum here on Monday on a comprehensive ban on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship in the country, writes Xinhua.
Over 90% of the Tobacco Harvest 2019 in Bulgaria is Pricked Off
90% of tobacco harvest 2019 in Bulgaria is pricked off. The volumes achieved in the four varieties grown in the country are different, but close to each other. Of the small-scale Oriental variety groups "Kaba Kulak" and "Basma", 97% and 100% have been pricked off respectively. In the large variety group Burley, the pricked off areas are over 85%, and Virginia - nearly 75%.
Bulgarian Tobacco Growers Received over BGN 80 Million
State Fund Agriculture (SFA) transferred over BGN 80 million (80,038,268 leva) subsidies to 41,116 farmers under the Transitional National Tobacco Support Scheme, decoupled from production. This was announced by the SFA.
The funds under the scheme are laid down in the State Budget Act for 2019 and are approved by the Management Board of SF "Agriculture".
BAT Turkey sector leader in tobacco exports
British American Tobacco (BAT) Turkey has become the sector leader, generating $197.3 million in exports of tobacco and tobacco products in 2018, the company said in a press release.
