Israel's army said Tuesday it had detected Hezbollah tunnels infiltrating its territory from Lebanon and launched an operation to destroy them, a move likely to raise tensions with the Iran-backed group.

Hezbollah was poised to seal its dominance of Lebanon May 7 with results for the country's first general election this decade expected to confirm the Iran-backed party as the main winner.

France's foreign minister on Wednesday demanded that all Iranian-backed militia, including Lebanon's Hezbollah, leave Syria and said that Turkey and Iran were violating international law through their actions in the country, according to Reuters.

The Bulgarian state prosecution has decided not to charge Hezbollah with involvement in the 2012 bomb attack at the Burgas airport that killed five Israelis and their Bulgarian bus driver and wounded 32 other Israelis, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

Lebanese security forces clashed with protesters near the United States embassy in Beirut on Sunday over President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, CNN reports.

Israeli jets have reportedly bombed close to the international airport in Damascus in the third attack by the Israeli military on targets associated with the Lebanese group Hezbollah in as many weeks, reported The Guardian. 

The Bulgarian court which will consider the case of the terrorist act at Bourgas Airport allowed submitting of civil claims for a record amount of over BGN 200 mln on behalf of nearly 50 victims against the two suspects, reported the Bulgarian National Television.
