The Pride parade, staged under the slogan ‘On the Right Side of the History’, saw protesters march through Zagreb on Saturday and hold a celebration in a city-centre park.

Hundreds of people on Saturday joined Greece's annual gay pride parade in a long-standing demand for equal rights to civil union and adoption.

Titled «A Family Affair», the 10th Athens Pride held on central Klafthmonos Square was supported by nearly a dozen embassies including those of Britain, the United States and Canada.

The organizers of Montenegro Pride 2014 on Thursday said the event had been postponed following consultations with the police.

They did not specify a new date for the parade, beyond expressing the hope that it would be in autumn.

The second Pride parade in Podgorica is being organized by two local NGOs, Montenegro Pride and Queer Montenegro.

BELGRADE - Serbia's chief negotiator in the EU accession talks Tanja Miscevic has been presented with this year's Rainbow Award for her contribution to the fight against homophobia and transphobia, and improvement of the status of the LGBT population in Serbia.

Danilo Tvrdisic, a leader of the right-wing Dveri movement, has called on Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to cancel the Gay Pride Parade scheduled for May 31, to avoid clashes in Belgrade.

"We have called on Vucic to cancel the parade as no normal person in Serbia would like to see a war in the streets of Belgrade or the destruction of property," Tvrdisic said.

The Merlinka festival, which has been organized in two other countries in the region since 2009, is running this year for the first time in Montenegro.

The festival is always held on International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia on May 17, which is marked all around the world.

BELGRADE - Serbia's Minister without Portfolio in charge of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic said Thursday that it is important for Serbia to do everything it can to make sure that the Pride parade takes place in Belgrade this year, adding that she will personally back up the staging of this event.

State "must do everything" to ensure holding of Pride Parade

BELGRADE -- The minister without portfolio responsible for EU integration has said that the state must do everything so that Belgrade Pride Parade is held this year.

Mayor Sinisa Mali on Wednesday said Belgrade Pride Parade had been scheduled for May 31 but whether it goes ahead still depends on "the assessment of the competent authority".

The organisers have said this year's Pride Parade will last from May 19 to 31 and will feature a number of cultural events and activities, including exhibitions and concerts.

BELGRADE - The 2014 Pride Week will be held in Belgrade from May 19 to 31 and the protest march in the downtown should be staged on the last day of the event, Goran Miletic of the Belgrade Pride Organisation Board said.
