Ferry rescues shipwrecked man between Tinos and Mykonos

The crew of a ferry rescued a 40-year-old shipwrecked man on a lifeboat in the sea area between Tinos and Mykonos on Monday.

According to reports, the rescue was carried out by the Super Express ferry, which was on a route from the island of Mykonos to the port of Rafina.

The 40-year-old was the sole occupant of a private boat that sunk. 

Canoeists die off Crete

The bodies of two canoeists who went missing on Sunday were found on Monday in a sea area off Hora Sfakion, on the island of Crete.

The coast guard said the bodies of the two men, aged 44 and 50, were found by someone on a private boat in the sea 10 nautical miles north of Gavdos. They were retrieved by a coast guard lifeboat and transported to the port of Hora Sfakion.

Russian freight ship sinks off Turkey's Black Sea coast

 A Russian-flagged cargo ship sank off Turkey's Black Sea coast on Jan. 17 and emergency workers were out rescuing the crew, an official said.

The ship, named Arvin, sunk off the Inkumu Coast of the northern province Bartin, said Gov. Sinan Güner.

Güner added that rescue efforts are underway for an estimated 15 crew members stranded in three lifeboats.
