Arsonist arrested near Corinth
A man was arrested for arson in Loutraki, Corinth on Monday and remanded in custody pending trial.
The man, arrested by the fire department's investigative unit, is accused of intentionally starting a fire at a forest area in Corinth.
He is expected to appear before a prosecutor later on Monday.

All roads between Elefsina and Corinth closed due to fires
All roads between Elefsina and Corinth have been closed by order of the police, due to the intensification of wildfires in the region.
The order concerns the new motorway between the two toll stations at Elefsina and Corinth as well as the old national highway.
The roads are the only access points to the Peloponnese from Athens.
Copernicus system activated to map burned areas
Copernicus, the EU's Earth observation program, has been activated for the immediate mapping of the areas in Eastern Attica, Western Attica, Viotia and Corinth (Loutraki) that has been burned in wildfires since Monday.

Weather not helping as battle against wildfires continues
Water-dumping aircraft took off at first light on Tuesday to help dozens of ground crews and mobile units battle three wildfires in the regions of Attica, Corinth and Viotia for a second day, as strong winds and high temperatures continued to exacerbate conditions.

Greek traffic police has stopped traffic circulation on the Athens-Corinth national highway from the Agii Theodori intersection to the Epidaurus intersection, on Monday, due to fires southeast of Loutraki.

Fire in Loutraki, settlements evacuated
The Hellenic Fire Service is battling a fire that broke out near the area of Loutraki, 80 kilometers west of Athens, on Monday. This is the second major fire on Monday, along with that near Kouvaras in eastern Attica.

Authorities in the seaside resort of Loutraki are investigating the circumstances that led to the deaths of four people who were found dead in a cave in the area of Ano Karbounari on Saturday.
