Wizz Air low-cost air carrier reported over one million passengers to and from Varna airport for one year from opening its base in the seaside.

The investment in the base amounted to over $ 100 million and led to the opening of more than 40 jobs, the Hungarian airline said.

Ryanair low-cost air carrier cancels 10% of scheduled flights to Ireland due to pilots strike, news agencies reported, citing a company announcement. Affected will be trips to the UK, but all flights to Europe will be on schedule.

Irish budget carrier Ryanair said yesterday its net profit had risen 10 percent in 2017-2018 despite the cancelation of thousands of flights, but forecast a fall this year due to higher oil prices.                   

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, has introduced its new cabin baggage policy, which allows all passengers to travel with a larger hand baggage free of charge.

Big portion of the flights of the low-cost airline WizzAir from Bulgaria to the UK will be suspended from the beginning of November, BNR reported.

Ryanair has waded into a debate on how to curb drunken behaviour on flights by suggesting passengers should be limited to only buying two drinks each at the airport, telegrapgh.co.uk reported.

Low-cost carrier Wizz Air launches flights from Sofia 2 new destinations in March 2018. 

The new destinations include Lisbon (Portugal) and Nice (France), the company announced at a press conference, reported Dnevnik.

The new flights will run twice a week, with the ones to Nice to be conducted on Monday and Friday, the ones to Lisbon on Tuesday and Sunday.

The battle is on in Barcelona, Spain's popular Mediterranean city where two airlines have started competing for passengers in the emerging trend of low-cost, long-haul flights.

The first flight operated by Level -- a new carrier created by IAG, the parent company of British Airways and Spain's Iberia -- took off on June 1 from El Prat airport for Los Angeles.

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will not operate flights to Kutaisi (Georgia). The flights to Kutaisi started only a few months ago - at the end of September last year.

''Many tourist agencies participate in organized trips to Georgia, after the line was opened, which made this destination cheaper because of the low-cost flight'', said from the company.

The Irish low-cost airline ''Ryanair'' will implement their summer program for flight also during the winter of 2017, and the tickets are already on sale from a starting price of EUR 9.99 per direction, said the company during their conference in Sofia on Monday.

The reason for their decision is the increase in ticket sales in Bulgaria and the expectation that it will continue.
